Full Time Staff

Fr. Paul Tsahakis, MD Father Paul Tsahakis, MD is the CEO of the St. Hermione Home. He leads our staff and volunteers in service of Christ and the women and children experiencing homelessness in Charlotte. Father Paul is a Greek Orthodox Priest serving at the Holy Monasteries of Panagia Prousiotissa in Troy, NC, and St. Nektarios in Aegina, Greece. He is a founding Member of St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, the Holy Unmercenaries Medical Society, as well as the Orthodox Christian Academy of Atlanta. He is a fellowship trained spinal surgeon, Fr. Paul has practiced medicine for over 40 years. He presently provides medical care at Shelter Health Services in Charlotte, NC and at St. Dionysios Hospital in Aegina, Greece.

Elizabeth Hahn Elizabeth Hahn is Director of Operations. She is the St. Hermione Home PQI (Performance Quality Improvement) Coordinator. She also serves on the Board of Advisors and is the Board of Directors Secretary. She volunteers with St Hermione weekly as a ministry team associate. Emily has traveled to Africa several times, serving in bringing food and medical care to remote areas. Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a specialization in Cross-Cultural nursing. She worked in both the Emergency Room (caring for adults and children) and Outpatient Primary Care settings.

Olga Melnyk Olga Melnyk is the Co-Direcor of Finance and Co-Treasure of the Board of Directors, serving in partnership with Petros Petrou. She volunteers with St Hermione weekly as a ministry team associate . She retired from the information technology field with over 40 years of experience in supporting various areas of technology in the financial services industry at different organizations. Prior to retirement, she was employed for 20 years at BNY Mellon as a database analyst at the Vice Present officer level concentrating on large scale mainframe and open system databases critical to daily processing of financial data. In addition to her professional experience, she held official positions at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church and Holy Trinity Orthodox churches in New York. This included Parish President, Treasurer at both parishes and Secretary. She served as project manager for major tasks at St. Nicholas parish including the iconography project, exterior church renovations, and rectory renovations. She holds a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude degree in Computer Science from Hofstra University., and an associate degree in data processing from Borough of Manhattan Community college, and a Certificate in Bookkeeping and QuickBooks from Hofstra School of Continuing Education. Petros Petrou is Co-Director of Finance and member of the Board of Directors of St. Hermione Home. He currently works for and manages Couchell Investment Company and also owns and manages other commercial real estate properties. Petros received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Rhode Island in 1994. He received his Master of Theological Studies from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2005. Petros has been involved with youth ministry as a Sunday School teacher, youth advisor and camp counselor. He worked with the Metropolis of Boston Camp to train staff, develop sessions and program structure. He has also volunteered for three mission trips to Mexico to help with construction of St. Innocent Orphanage and building homes for families in need.

Petros Petrou Petros Petrou is Co-Director of Finance and member of the Board of Directors of St. Hermione Home. He currently works for and manages Couchell Investment Company and also owns and manages other commercial real estate properties. Petros received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Rhode Island in 1994. He received his Master of Theological Studies from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2005. Deidre Lipkowski Deidre Lipkowski is the Director of Human Resources and Risk Management. She also serves as our Marketing Coordinator. She volunteers with St Hermione weekly as a ministry team associate. She earned her associate’s degree in Fashion Merchandising/ Marketing Management from Akron University. She has 30 years of experience in management, leadership, training and developing training concepts. This included hiring, reviews coach/counseling and goal setting, traveling stores to develop managers and work through management team dysfunction, and assessing manager capabilities. Deidre is a faithful Ministry Team Member that serves with SHH weekly. She also has many servant leadership roles at St. Nektarios Orthodox Church.

Irene Liapis Irene Liapis is the Director of Support Services assisting all other St. Hermione Home Directors. She volunteers with St Hermione weekly as a ministry team associate. She is a native Carolinian who has lived in the Charlotte area for almost 30 years. Irene graduated with a B.S. in Accounting, worked 10 years in corporate finance and currently as a realtor for 25 years. Personally, she loves supporting her church and the St. Hermione Home mission. Irene also loved serving mobile meals through Friendship Trays for 15 years and on the Camp LUCK Board of Directors, an organization which supports local children born with congenital heart differences. Irene is especially grateful to better understand the issues affecting our local homeless population and she draws strength from many of them who hold onto their faith despite their circumstances.

Phyllis Gianakopoulos Phyllis Gianakopoulos is a “Donations and Distributions” Coordinator for St. Hermione Home Ministries. She serves as a member of the St. Hermione Home Ministry Board of Directors. She has volunteered with St Hermione weekly as a ministry team associate since 2024. Phyllis has been an active member of the Ladies of Philoptochos for 27 years and has served on its board for 4 terms. Phyllis was a volunteer at Samaritan’s Feet International from 2013 to 2020. She headed many shoe drives and participated in international mission trips to Greece, Belize and Puerto Rico for the organization. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Merchandising from Meredith College.

Gus Gianakopoulos Gus Gianakopoulos is a “Donations & Distributions” Coordinator for St. Hermione Home Ministries. He has volunteered with St Hermione weekly as a ministry team associate since 2024. Gus is a member of the Board of Directors of Shelter Health Services. He is a dental provider for Shelter Health Services. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from University of Detroit Mercy.
